![]() In naming files, directories, etc., it is much better practice (to my knowledge) to utilize underscores instead of actual spaces because it negates the need for "\" characters before spaces in naming. I'm not sure why the underscore characters are seemingly not allowed. I have narrowed it down to being an issue with the underscores in the name, because I tried an even longer name with no underscores and it worked just fine ( example "exampleNameHD" worked). Try using a name with fewer characters, or with no punctuation marks." The problem i'm having currently is I cannot rename the drive because I get the error that. ![]() The reason that I wanted to name this new HD with the same name was due to the fact that I have multiple scripts that have paths that are dependant on this naming convention for this HD, and it would cause a large head ache with the hours I would need to spend in reviewing all these scripts to try and fix these path names. I tried to rename the drive with the same name (with the old HD ejected as to alleviate potential confusion). I recently purchased a very similar WD 4TB external HD so that I could copy my data to my own personal drive and send the old one to my professor. I had previously had a hard drive that I was borrowing from my professor which had a specific name that included underscores. I'm having an issue with renaming a new external hard drive.
